Alberta Child and Family Benefit (ACFB) for 2024. The ACFB is a tax-free benefit paid to families with children under the age of 18 who live in Alberta. To be Eligible for Alberta Child and Family Benefit (ACFB) 2024 you must be Parent of 1 or more Children under 18. Be a Resident of Alberta, File a Tax Return and Meet the Income Criteria. The ACFB program is administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on Alberta’s behalf. ACFB payments will be mailed or direct deposited by the CRA in 4 installments. Payments are made in August, November, February and May.
The amount of the ACFB you receive depends on your family income and the number of children you have. Here are the maximum benefit amounts for the 2023-2024 benefit year (July 2023 to June 2024):
1 child: $1,410 ($117.50 per month)
2 children: $2,115 ($176.25 per month)
3 children: $2,820 ($235.00 per month)
4 or more children: $3,525 ($293.75 per month)
The benefit is reduced as your family income exceeds $25,935. If your adjusted family net income is between $25,935 and $43,460, you may receive a partial benefit.
In addition to the base benefit, families with working income of more than $2,760 may also be eligible to receive the working income component of the ACFB. The amount of the working income component depends on your family income and the number of children you have.
Here are the maximum working income component amounts for the 2023-2024 benefit year:
1 child: $722 ($60.16 per month)
2 children: $1,379 ($114.92 per month)
3 children: $1,772 ($147.67 per month)
4 or more children: $1,902 ($158.50 per month)
How to apply

Starting November 20, 2023, all individuals will be required to provide proof of birth when applying for the Canada child benefit (CCB).
Payment dates
The ACFB is paid in four equal installments throughout the year. The payment dates for the 2023-2024 benefit year are:

January 25, 2024
April 26, 2024
July 26, 2024
Now, if your Household Status Changes, your eligibility for Payment and benefit may change. If your household’s status changes, your eligibility for the benefit may change. For example:
- if you have another child, your household may qualify for a greater benefit than you received
- if your family leaves Alberta, you may have to return some of the money received for the months you were not living in the province
- if your family moves to Alberta, you will become eligible in the month after you become a resident
